Alcoholism and Addiction is a Family Disease that Affects Teenagers

RHODE ISLAND ALATEEN IS FOR TEENAGERS WHOSE MOTHER, FATHER, SIBLINGS, OR FRIENDS STRUGGLE WITH ALCOHOLISM OR ADDICTION

Living with alcoholism or addiction in a family member can be frustrating and overwhelming. Alateen provides meetings and other resources for teenagers who are living with alcoholism or addiction in their household. We believe that sharing our experience, strength, and hope with each other makes us better able to cope with the difficulties found in dealing with alcoholics and addicts in our families.

WHO CAN ATTEND ALATEEN?

Any person between the ages of 13 and 19 who needs help in dealing with alcoholism or addiction in a family member is welcome to attend. The meetings are held in confidence and there are always one or two adults in attendance that help keep the meetings focused and productive. The Alateen members take responsibility for leading and sharing at their meetings.
